What happens before an ortho-k fitting?
An ortho-k assessment is more detailed than choosing standard contact lenses. It may include a discussion of your visual needs and health history, measurement of your prescription, corneal topography to map the eye’s surface, assessment of the tear film and eye health, and a review of whether the wearer can follow the required cleaning and handling routine.

In children with myopia, research indicates that ortho-k can reduce axial eye growth on average compared with single-vision spectacles in some groups. It does not cure myopia, and individual responses differ. The decision should follow a clinical assessment and a discussion of available myopia-management options.
